Selten hat eine Reunion so viel Sinn gemacht wie im Falle von ASPHYX. Zum einen haben die Holländer tonnenweise unsterbliche Metal-Klassiker aus ihrer bewegten, seit 1987 andauernden Karriere (man nehme nur ‚MS Bismarck‘, ‚The Krusher‘ oder ‚The Rack‘) in der Hinterhand. Zum anderen haben die Mannen um Ausnahmeröhre Martin van Drunen auch heute noch etwas zusagen, was ihr aktuelles Album ‚Death… The Brutal Way‘ eindrucksvoll unter Beweis gestellt hat. So als hätte es zwischen 2000 und 2008 keine achtjährige Pause gegeben, knüpft ihr neuer Rundling direkt an ihr Zweitwerk ‚Last One On Earth’ an. Könnt Ihr sie schon sehen? Die wehenden Matten der bangenden Horden auf dem Dinkelsbühler Acker? Ein Anblick, bei dem jedem, dem nur ein einziger Tropfen flüssiges Todesmetall durch die Adern läuft, das dunkle Herz aufgeht.

On the one hand, these Dutchmen have produced tons of immortal metal classics in the course of their eventful career, which started back in 1987 (just take 'MS Bismarck', 'The Krusher' or 'The Rack' for example), on the other, the band – fronted by the exceptional death metal vocalist Martin van Drunen – still has a lot to say to this day, as evidenced by their latest album 'Death... The Brutal Way'. As if the 8-year break between 2000 and 2008 had never happened, the album sounds like a direct progression from the band's sophomore album 'Last One On Earth'. D’une part, les Hollandais ont sorti une tonne de classiques metal immortels tout au long de leur carrière mouvementée, qui a commencé en 1987 (prenez juste 'MS Bismarck', 'The Krusher' ou 'The Rack' par exemple). D’une autre part, le groupe – mené de main de Maître par leur chanteur de death metal exceptionnel Martin van Drunen – à toujours autant de choses à dire, et c’est plus qu’une évidence avec leur dernier album 'Death... The Brutal Way'. C’est comme si le break de huit ans entre 2000 et 2008 ne s’était jamais produit. Leur album sonne comme une progression directe depuis leur album sophomore ‘Last One On Earth’. Da un lato questi olandesi hanno prodotto tonnellate di classici metal immortali nel corso della propria carriera, partita nel 1987 (prendete ad esempio ‘MS Bismarck‘, ‘The Krusher‘ o ‘The Rack‘), dall’altro la band – guidata dall’eccezionale cantante death metal Martin van Drunen – ha ancora molto da dire oggi, come dimostra l’ultimo album 'Death... The Brutal Way'. Come se gli 8 anni di pausa tra il 2000 e il 2008 non ci fossero mai stati, l’album suona come un’evoluzione diretta del second album ‘Last One On Earth’.
