Retro rock, more specifically classic 70s hard rock, is pretty much en vogue right now. There’s an up-and-coming band from Holland who have managed to make a name for themselves mainly in their home country so far, and they’re coming to SUMMER BREEZE 2014: GINGERPIG. And yet there is a musician in their ranks who is pretty well-known to metal fans: Boudewijn Bonebakker used to play in the Dutch death metal band Gorefest. But GINGERPIG don’t have a thing in common with Gorefest’s brutal sounds. While their debut album contained a blend of rock, post metal and blues, nowadays they focus even more on their roots, which lie in classic seventies (hard) rock. And their sound has definitely got enough drive and power to attract some connoisseurs with a cold one in their hands.
