Who knows what would have become of NIGHT IN GALES if they had come from Gothenburg rather than North-Rhine Westphalia. Maybe today their albums would be mentioned in the same breath as the classic In Flames and Dark Tranquillity albums, and they wouldn’t have had a ten-year hiatus after their last studio album ‘Necrodynamic’. What if, what if… to speculate is useless. One thing is for sure, NIGHT IN GALES made a strong comeback with their new studio album ‘Five Scars’ last year, an album that combines the original feeling of melodic death metal with today’s studio techniques in a refreshing manner. This is what a band has to sound like in order to carry on the heritage of the aforementioned bands from the mid nineties without getting tagged with the “core” label. Great stuff!
