Setlist

Ins gedimmtem Rotlicht der Bühne knallten lautes Sirenengeheul und sofort war allen Anwesenden klar: Da kommt etwas Großes! Es folgte ein kurzes eingespieltes Medley aus “Wild Child“, “I Wanna Be Somebody“ und etlichen anderen Megahits, das mit einem finalen Knall den tatsächlichen Konzertbeginn von W.A.S.P. einläutete. Blackie Lawless ist natürlich über die Jahre nicht jünger geworden, wirkte aber sehr energiegeladen. Die Pony-Frisur saß wie in alten Zeiten. Mit weißen Cowboyboots, engen Jeans und Bandshirt der eigenen Combo knallte er mit gewohnt kratziger Stimme einen Schocker nach dem anderen in die Nacht. Der Rest der Gruppe lief stilecht in Lack und Leder auf. Sowohl die ältere als auch die jüngere Generation der auf dem SUMMER BREEZE versammelten Besucher wurde schlagartig zurück in die 80er katapultiert. Eine Zeit, in der Social Media und Smartphones nie eine Rolle gespielt hatten – und doch fanden sich natürlich diverse gezückte Handys, die den Auftritt filmten. Spätestens bei “Love Machine“ hatten W.A.S.P. ihr Publikum vollends in ihren Bann gezogen – mit “L.O.“ machte die Band den Anfang, übergab dann an die Menge, die nur zu gerne “V.E. – All I Need’s My Lovemachine“ ergänzte. Die Stimmung war ausgelassen und selbst die diversen Gitarrensoli taten dem keinen Abbruch, sondern fachten das Feuer eher noch an. W.A.S.P. setzten bis zum Ende ihrer Darbietung auf extreme Publikumsnähe – ein kurzes Dankeschön und ab dafür? Von wegen! Die Menge ließ sie so leicht nicht von Dannen ziehen. Nach minutenlangen “I Wanna Be Somebody“-Chören wurde das Flehen der Crowd tatsächlich erhört und die Kalifornier kamen zum Kettensägensound von “Chainsaw Charlie“ für eine Zugabe zurück auf die Bühne. Drei veritable Klassiker schüttelten die Haare aller Beteiligten noch einmal kräftig durch, ehe bei den Fans allmählich Heiserkeit Einzug hielt und glückliche Gesichter in Richtung Stage strahlten.Siren Intro
